Minneapolis Public Library Winter Hours Brochures, 1960s
Today the Library has a new open hours schedule which includes 9 a.m. opening times and Mondays at 10 Minneapolis libraries.
Above are Winter hours brochures from the 1960s for the Minneapolis Public Library. Back then the libraries had different hours for the “school year” that added Saturdays to the schedules of the Central and Community Branch libraries.
Typical hours for the 1960s were 9 a.m.-9 p.m. for Central Library, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and either 12:30-9 p.m. or 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the branch libraries, depending on the day. Some branch libraries were closed on Wednesdays or Saturdays. No libraries were open on Sunday.
