The Soo Line Building was designated historic in 1996 and was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It eclipsed the Metropolitan Building in height when it was completed in 1915 and held the title of tallest commercial building in Minneapolis until the Foshay Tower was built in 1929. Here is a photo from Special Collections of the pre-Foshay Tower skyline. Previously an office building, it now has been renovated into apartments with a modern lobby (pictured above).
