Twin City Championship Football Game, 1974

Another event that was held at Parade Stadium was the Football Championship between the Minneapolis and St. Paul city champions.  Minneapolis Southwest faced Humboldt High from St. Paul in 1974.

Within the program for the game we found the announcer’s script printed on a 1950s 3M photocopying material known as Thermo-Fax.  On the back of Thermo-Fax there is a blue flame - it deteriorates over time and fades, we made a preservation photocopy of the script to save the information.

Here is a highlight, “THIS NEXT SONG “GET IT ON” IS ESPECIALLY DEDICATED TO THEIR HARD FIGHTING FOOTBALL TEAMS AND FOR THE HONOR OF BEING CHOSEN TO REPRESENT THEIR CITIES AT THIS FINE ATHLETIC EVENT. BANDMASTER’S MR. STOIKE, AND MR. SCHWEIZER, THEIR MUSICIANS AND DRILL TEAM, AND THE SW INDIANETTES PRESENT —-“GET IT ON.”
