The Book of the Gospels (St. John’s Bible Edition) was recently received by the Hennepin County Library and is now on display in the Special Collections Dept. at the Minneapolis Central Library.
The book contains 30 major illuminations for the St. John’s Bible. They are reproduced in full color throughout the volume of Sunday and Holy Day scriptural readings. The text is from the New American Bible translation and is in 17 point Golden Cockerel typeface.
Most dispatches are from Ian Stade, a librarian at the James K. Hosmer Special Collections. Special Collections' Minneapolis History Collection covers an extensive array of materials on city history, including thousands of photographs, clippings, documents, books, programs, reports, yearbooks and hundreds of archival collections. Special Collections also houses several other collections on World War II, 19th century literature, the Abolitionist movement, Mark Twain, and the History of Books and Printing.
