Civil War historian Dr. Joseph Fitzharris will examine the experience of the 3rd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry in the 1862 Dakota War. Captured by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest in July, they were exchanged and returned to Minnesota by August 1862 just in time to fight in the Dakota War.
